At AK Dental Care, our approach is focused on preventive care and helping you maintain long-term oral health. We are passionate about saving teeth and believe that many dental problems can be avoided or managed early with careful monitoring, clear advice, and the right support. By identifying small changes before they become bigger issues, we aim to reduce the need for more complex treatment wherever possible.
Your appointment with Ignacio will be a thorough review of your teeth, gums, bite and any existing dental work. It is an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and to develop a clear understanding of your oral health, not simply to identify treatment.

Your journey with us begins with a Comprehensive Oral Health Review, giving us the time to get to know you and understand your oral health needs.
What happens during your first visit?

We listen first – taking the time to understand your concerns, symptoms, and what matters most to you about your oral health.

Medical and dental history review – considering your general health, medications, and dental history to ensure your care is safe and tailored to you.

Oral cancer screening – a careful examination of the lips, tongue, cheeks, palate, and surrounding tissues as part of every routine assessment.

Gum health assessment – checking the health of your gums and supporting bone for early signs of inflammation or gum disease.

Tooth health check – examining every tooth for decay, cracks, wear, and overall strength, with a focus on preserving your natural teeth whenever possible.

Review of existing dental work – assessing fillings, crowns, bridges, implants, and previously root-treated teeth to ensure they remain healthy and functioning well.

Bite and function assessment – evaluating how your teeth come together and looking for signs of clenching, grinding, or uneven wear.

X-rays, when clinically necessary – used only where appropriate to assess areas that cannot be seen during the examination and to support early diagnosis.

Personalised preventive advice – providing tailored guidance to help you protect your teeth and gums between visits.

Clear explanation and long-term plan – discussing our findings in a calm, easy-to-understand way and agreeing on a plan that supports your long-term oral health.
The appointment typically takes around 30 minutes and the fee for this visit is £150.
If your case is more complex, we may recommend a further appointment for additional tests or a more detailed review. Any additional fees will always be discussed with you beforehand.
Our approach is always to preserve your natural teeth wherever possible. Ignacio will explain his findings clearly and honestly, including which areas are healthy, which may need monitoring and whether anything would benefit from treatment.
Where there are different options, these will be discussed carefully, including their advantages, limitations and likely costs. You will be supported in making the decision that feels right for you, without pressure.
Ignacio works closely with our wider clinical team, allowing us to provide joined-up care when patients require additional expertise.
Our team includes dentists with advanced training and special interests in areas such as endodontics (root canal treatment), implant dentistry, and
restorative dentistry and a nursing team of qualified nurses with many years of experience. This allows us to provide a high level of care while
working closely together as a multidisciplinary team for more complex cases.
